Accidents can happen anywhere, so we must always be prepared and have the best coverage. You first need to figure out what amount of coverage you need and want. Do you commute to and from work? Is it a long commute? Do you want full coverage? How much are you willing to pay? What is within your budget? These are all questions you might be asking yourself when picking out an auto insurance coverage. There are different types of coverage.

Collision Coverage: Pays for the damage that your car received from an accident or from hitting an object.

Comprehensive Coverage: Pays for damage that did not occur in a collision such as fire, theft, or flood.

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Protection: Pays for damages when you are involved in an accident where the other party has no insurance coverage.

Liability Coverage: Pays for the damages from the car accident if you are determined to be responsible of the accident.

Personal Injury Protection: Pays all the medical bills you incur from an accident as well as the medical bills of the passengers in your car.

As a common example of amounts, you are required by law to carry both of these coverages:

Bodily Liability Coverage: $15,000 per person/$30,000 per accident minimum. This coverage pays for the injuries you caused to someone else or the injuries you received from the accident.

Property Damage Liability Coverage $5,000 minimum. This coverage pays for the damages you inflicted on someone else is car or property you might have destroyed during an accident.

What is your driving record like? If you have a bad driving record you will find yourself paying a higher premium for your car insurance.
After you have gathered all this information, solicit quotes from different insurance companies. Research the companies and make sure that they get good reviews. Make sure to compare all the rates, so you do not find yourself paying more than you should. Once you have compared all your options contact the insurance you would like to receive coverage from and do not forget to carry a copy of your insurance whenever you drive.
